Father took 3 children (all under 10 years) from the mother and said he would not be returning for 1 week. The father is very unstable due to his mental health. Father has a history of violence and aggression towards the mother. Children were at serious risk of harm. No family court orders were in place so the police were highly reluctant to get involved (common practice unfortunately despite risk to the children). We filed an urgent application for recovery orders which also sought parenting orders for the protection of the mother and children. The children were returned on the same evening we got the recovery order and are safe and sound with the mother.
